The 9 marks on an iCue practice ball represent the ideal tip contact points (TCP) when striking the cue ball. There are five spots on a cue ball where the majority of tip contact occurs. Those spots on the iCue ball are: A, B, C and both 1's.

The ABC's of Pool

A - Above Center

Striking the cue ball here gets the cue ball rolling with forward roll.

B - Below Center

Striking the cue ball here puts backward roll on the cue ball, mainly for stop shots.

C - Center

This is where most beginners tend to contact the cue ball. It’s their comfort zone.

#1 - 7 O'clock & 5 O'clock (Low Left & Low Right)

This is where 80%* of side spin (English) happens.

#2 - 11 O'clock & 1 O'clock (High Left & High Right)

This is where 10%* of side spin (English) happens.

#3 - 9 O'clock & 3 O'clock (Left Center & Right Center)

This is where the last 10%* of side spin (English) happens.
